Welcome Back Special Edition | Academic Year 2026–2027
Students Return Tuesday 1st September 2026

Welcome Back to Mides Elite Academy

The summer holiday is coming to an end and Mides Elite Academy is delighted to welcome students, staff and families back for the beginning of the 2026–2027 academic year. Students officially return to the academy on Tuesday 1st September 2026, beginning a brand-new First Term filled with new opportunities, new academic goals and several important changes across academy life.

During the summer break, preparations have continued across Mides Elite Academy to ensure that students return to an organised, ambitious and modern learning environment. Staff have been preparing new timetables, updated classroom arrangements, revised curriculum plans, new learning resources and improved systems to support students throughout the year.

The first week back will be particularly important because students will need to become familiar with new lesson times, new classrooms, new teachers, updated subjects and the academy's redesigned school day. Students are encouraged to arrive ready to listen carefully to instructions and become familiar with the new structure as quickly as possible.

â–¶ What Students Can Expect During the First Week

New School Day from September 2026

One of the biggest developments students will experience when returning to Mides Elite Academy is the introduction of the new school day. The structure has been redesigned for the 2026–2027 academic year to create a clearer, more organised and more effective learning experience.

Students should not rely on the timings used during the previous academic year. Lesson times, movement between periods, break and lunchtime arrangements will now follow the updated school day structure.

Teachers and academy staff will support students during the first few days while everyone becomes familiar with the new routine. Students should check their timetable carefully before each lesson and ensure they move promptly around the academy.

â–¶ New School Day Changes

New KS3 and KS4 Timetables

All students will begin following their new timetables from Tuesday 1st September. The new timetables have been created alongside the revised school day and will determine the subjects, lesson periods, teachers and classroom locations students will follow throughout the week.

Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 will continue operating with different curriculum requirements, meaning students should ensure they are looking at the correct timetable for their stage of learning.

Students moving into a new year group may notice significant differences compared with their previous timetable. Some subjects may appear more frequently, different teachers may be allocated and new curriculum areas may become part of the weekly programme.

â–¶ Timetable Reminders

New Periods and Curriculum Changes

The revised timetable also introduces updated lesson periods across the academy. Students will experience a structured sequence of learning throughout the school day, with each period designed to provide sufficient time for teaching, independent learning, practical work and academic development.

The curriculum continues to provide a broad range of subjects across Mides Elite Academy. Students entering new year groups will begin new units and more challenging areas of study appropriate to their age and stage.

â–¶ Curriculum Areas Students May Study

Welcoming the New Year 7 Cohort

Mides Elite Academy is especially pleased to welcome our newest Year 7 students as they begin their secondary education. Starting secondary school represents a major milestone and staff have been preparing carefully to make the transition as supportive and positive as possible.

The new Year 7 cohort consists of 52 students and will operate across Year 7A and Year 7B, allowing students to learn in smaller groups while remaining part of one united Year 7 community.

â–¶ Year 7 Structure

Students Moving into Their New Year Groups

The beginning of September also means progression for returning students. Students who successfully completed the previous academic year will now begin learning at the next stage of their education.

Students entering Years 8 and 9 will build further on the knowledge and skills developed at Key Stage 3, while students entering Years 10 and 11 will experience an increasingly important focus on GCSE learning, examination preparation and independent study.

â–¶ Expectations for the New Year Group

Year 10 and Year 11 Academic Focus

Key Stage 4 students will begin an especially important academic year. Year 10 students will continue developing their GCSE knowledge and examination skills, while Year 11 students enter the final stage of their secondary education.

Year 11 students should expect an increased focus on revision, assessments, coursework where applicable, intervention support and preparation for their GCSE examinations.

â–¶ Key Stage 4 Priorities

What Students Need for the First Day

Students should arrive on Tuesday 1st September fully prepared for a complete day of learning. Having the correct equipment from the beginning of term helps students remain organised and ready to participate in every lesson.

â–¶ First Day Checklist

Attendance and Punctuality — A Fresh Start

The beginning of a new academic year provides every student with the opportunity to establish a strong attendance record from the very first day. Regular attendance remains essential to academic success because students cannot fully benefit from teaching when lessons are missed.

Punctuality will also remain an important focus. Students should arrive in sufficient time for morning registration and should move quickly and calmly between lessons throughout the day.

â–¶ Attendance Expectations

Behaviour and Academy Expectations

Mides Elite Academy will continue maintaining high expectations for behaviour throughout the new academic year. Students should demonstrate respect towards staff, classmates, academy property and the wider school community.

Positive behaviour allows everyone to learn within a calm, safe and respectful environment. Academy expectations apply throughout lessons, corridors, break, lunchtime, educational visits and all academy activities.

â–¶ Academy Expectations

Mybor and Digital Academy Systems

Digital development will continue to play an important role during the 2026–2027 academic year. Mybor will continue supporting academy organisation while the Mides Elite Academy website will provide important information, term dates, Latest News, academy notices and other updates.

Students will begin the new academic year with updated year-group information and new current-year records, allowing their portal experience to reflect their progression into the next stage of learning.

â–¶ Digital Updates

Student Leadership and Academy Community

Student leadership will continue being an important part of academy life. Students will have opportunities to contribute to their forms, year groups and the wider Mides Elite Academy community.

Leadership does not simply mean holding a title. Students demonstrate leadership by showing kindness, responsibility, resilience, excellent behaviour and willingness to support others.

â–¶ Student Leadership Opportunities

Important Reminder — Tuesday 1st September 2026

Mides Elite Academy officially resumes for the 2026–2027 academic year on Tuesday 1st September 2026.

Students should arrive fully prepared for learning and should remember that the new school day and new timetable begin immediately. Previous lesson times and timetables should no longer be followed.

Looking Ahead to First Term

First Term promises to be an exciting and important period for the academy. Students will experience the new school day, begin new curriculum units, work towards new academic goals and participate in a range of academy opportunities throughout the term.

Mides Elite Academy will continue providing regular Latest News updates throughout the year covering student achievements, academic progress, educational visits, leadership developments, events and other important academy announcements.
